10-25-19 Newsletter

Happy Fall 3rd Grade Families! Wow, what an awesome week this was.  Please check yellow folders to view some amazing third grade work!   No school on Monday, 10/28 or Friday, 11/8 as those are conference days. I look forward to spending this time with you and your child!

This week, students learned about inclusion and friendship through an engaging activity led by our Counselor, Chloe Shaw.     In writing, our third graders learned why we write letters and they also were able to identify the parts of a letter: greeting, heading, body, closing and signature.  In reading this week, students explored the culture (food, housing and tools) of the Northwest Native Americans.  In Social Studies, students learned about the Legend of the Dream Catcher, and then we created our own!  This was so fun! It was also great fine motor practice for our fingers and a good lesson to connect with growth mindset!  Also, students began sharing their Native American tribe poster projects, and we will continue to share them next week!

The Food Drive is happening right now!  We have a collection box in our room and we are collecting canned goods, packaged dry goods, wipes and other goodies.  We had three participants this week –  thank you Charlotte, Jimena and Stella!

Congratulations to the Star Student of the Week:  Dylan Schoonover

We reached our goal of another 50 Positive Poms!   Students voted, and the majority winners were to receive 1 free homework pass and extra 30 minutes of tech time on iPads for playing educational games next week. Hooray for teamwork!

A Look Ahead to Next Week: 10/28

Homework:  Read 20 minutes each night and complete daily practice on Homework planner.  Spelling Test will be Friday.
