Newsletter 10-4-19

Hooray for another great week! This week third graders did awesome with MAP testing, and everyone was responsible and kind.  In religion this week, we studied the Apostle’s Creed and the first three of the Ten Commandments.  Our third graders also shared their published pet opinion paragraphs, which were very convincing!  The illustrations also really grabbed our readers’ attentions.  In reading this week, we focused on asking questions before, during and after we read.  We also made great predictions as we are glued to our historical fiction text, Buffalo Before Breakfast.  Students will also continue working on answering chapter comprehension questions with a partner.  In Social Studies, students researched their Native American tribe using non-fiction texts and chrome books.  And…we had an awesome innaugural field trip to visit Tillicum Village on Blake Island!  Upon our return today, we shared totem pole designs and had time to reflect on the highlights through journal writing.  Enjoy the pictures! I will upload more from the trip as they come my way.

Congratulations to the Star Student of the Week:  Hudson Freeland

Our class earned 50 Positive Poms!  We are working our way to another 50, with only 21 to go! ***On Thursday, October 10, Students can bring in their favorite stuffed animal (must fit in backpack) to school and will have extra recess time.
